A hospice for the terminally ill on the outskirts of Calcutta, a charitable dispensary in a small tribal village in Jharkhand, an old age home in Nadia District in West Bengal, a hamlet rehabilitation for Irular tribals in Kerala, a malaria control initiative in a slum in Calcutta, a watershed project in a village in Orissa - small footsteps, big dreams. This is the core essence of SAFHI

SAFHI believes in the horizontal approach encompassing various interventions, targeted at select communities.

We intend to funnel in the experience and resources from various vertical, narrow band programmes into a 'people centric' rather than programme centric approach.

A cursory look at our project activities will show that we do not have a subject or programme based focus and we intend to remain that way.

We do need donor funds. At the same time we try to garner resources through revenue generating activities commensurate with our charter. Such activities include doing field work for a social research organization (ORG), running a rural sanitary mart and marketing of rural products.

SAFHI is a Not-for-Profit society, managed by the voluntary effort of a Governing Body whose Members draw no remuneration from the organization.
